SUMMER LOVIN’

I know fall fashion is trending and I’ve already got my hands on some damn good September issues (still waiting on Vogue and Gaga. EEEEEeee! #cantwait ) but gosh people, it was nearly 100 degrees today. Let’s hit pause before we delve any deeper into layers, boots and fur (or boots with the fur, whichever your preference) and take a gander on some summer ’12 editorials well worth peeping.

you.are.welcome.

UPDATE:

I’ve been sitting on this draft for way too long. Now that I wasting my life away waiting on a delayed flight in the Portland airport, it seems like a great time to hit publish!

By this time tomorrow I’ll be in New York City.

Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn.

Hello Adventure.

Hello Love.

See you on the other side, darlings!

BELOW:

A shit ton of summer editorials, Wildfox up first. #FAVE

Sunshine, I’m not ready to bid you adieu just yet. Cheers to a few more warm nights of revelry and the best Indian late summer* we’ve ever had.

(that term is so not P.C.)

Speaking of Indian late summer, the lookbook below exudes all sorts of the like. It’s got that perfect Moonrise Kingdom, vintagey, teenage-angst thing going on. If I’m old enough to be nostalgic, it certainly makes me long for an age when we had so much fun we forgot what day it was.

x+O,

M

Skin(ny) and Ink

If ever there were a girl worthy of girl-crushing, it’s undoubtedly Freja Beha Erichsen. She is BADASSNESS in human form (that’s probably not a word but I just made it one). I mean, who doesn’t love her? Or love to look at her. Notably, she’s one of the most tattooed models in the industry. I think the last count was 16. See for yourself:

In other news, I recently joined the Tattoo Road Trip team (Sweet tits, yo! hashtag fucking excited!) and shortly, you’ll be able to peep tattoo/fashion related pieces yonder, penned by yours truly. I’ll keep you posted…

p.s. not sure the source of all the Freja photos, the first two are from an editorial for Twin Magazine shot by Boo George. For more skin and ink pics, peep my Pinterest. (yeah that’s right, I pin, too. hashtag melted crayon.)

p.s.s. I got A’s for Spring term. Now that school’s out of summer, I can get back to caring for my poor, neglected blog. Thanks for hanging in there, faithful readers, while One Lone Magpie took a backseat to my educational pursuits. Lots of cool ish to come!

love you loads,

x+o,

OBSESSED: UNICORN HAIRZ

I take my obsessions seriously. When I love something, I really LOVE it. Like, the way that big monster from Looney Tunes loved Bugs Bunny (“I’m going to hug him and squeeze him and name him George!”) ‘Cause really, there’s no sense in half-assing it. If you’re crazy about something, than own it. #lifelessonnumber465 #yourewelcome

That said, let me tell you about a little thing I’m currently OBSESSED with called UNICORN HAIR! or ombre hair or dip-dye hair and chalking, whatever means you need to get the lovely pastel magic seen below. The trend has been around for awhile and shows no signs of calling it quits. Which means YAY FOR ME and anyone else in love with this look!

All this talk of magical hair power has me considering dying mine multiple colors again like I had it last summer and the summer before that and than all the way back to junior high when I used Kool-Aid to dye it. Which, by the way, has more permanent results than you’d think…#oops.

Gaze to your heart’s content:

K, going to bed now. I had plans of catching up on Gossip Girl and doing zero amounts of homework ‘cuz it’s my “SPRING BREAK, WHOOOO!” but I actually want to sleep more than I want to catch up on the over-the-top but oh-so-glamourous-n-fabulous fictional lives of Upper Eastsiders.

x+o,

M
