RINGS N THINGZ

My blogger bestie/real life bestie of Rebeka’s Reflections agreed to guest post for me!  I visit her blog when I need a good laugh since she tells ridiculous stories and also it’s nice to get a peek into the life of a law student (At one point in life, I thought I wanted to have a career in law). She’s almost a lawyer and will be graduating in spring. So, if you ever find yourself in some legal trouble, you know who to call. You’re welcome.

Rebeka has cute, cute style (see furry vest post here), wears an enviable top knot, has killer Backstreet Boy dance moves and shares my love of dive bars and funtimes with friends!

Um, she may kill me for posting this but I LOVE THE BEAR HAT!

K, here is her post:

Hayy ONELONEMAGPIE readers! I’m so excited to be guest posting here today, mostly because Marissa is one of my real life besties and she is so much more fashionable than me, it’s ridiculous. I’m going to go ahead and blame law school for this one? Law school = living off of student loans and spending more time studying than any reasonable person ever should means sometimes I think it’s alright to wear leggings, boots and the same sweater three days in a row (it was finals, don’t judge). Anyway, I’m getting off topic. The moral of the story is that I was definitely flattered when Marissa asked me to come over and hang out with her in her blog world for the day.

Even though I might think it’s alright (during finals) to let my sense of style go out the door, I will still try and put on something sparkly, usually a cute ring, to make me feel at least a little better about my outfit choice. Isn’t it wonderful how jewelry can do that? So, today I want to share with you some of my current ring obsessions. I really am a firm believer that good jewelry can make an outfit, whether you’re dressed up or dressed in dirty leggings.

This first ring is made by Boonestala:

I should tell you right off the bat that I love LOVE two finger rings (Marissa can vouch for that). And this one is extra fabulous because to make the ring the designers hand carve wax in the shape of lion’s teeth then cast it in either silver or brass. How cool would you feel wearing this? Just imagine the compliments you would get (I loveeee getting compliments on my jewelry)! But seriously, if anyone wants to buy this for me I’ll gladly give you my address, it’s SO amazing!

Next up I have this majestic (isn’t that just the best word?) gold-plated, Swarovski crystal ring by Yves Saint Laurent:

Again, I love how unique this ring is. I also think the gold and turquoise complement each other really well. I could definitely picture myself wearing this – well, all the time, BUT – with a pretty cocktail dress to some fancy event. Like law school prom. Yes it’s a real thing, and it’s awesome. Don’t judge me…

This next ring is an Aurelie Bidermann snake ring that I found on Net-A-Porter:

Real life snakes? Scare the crap out of me. Snakes and butterflies, which are just TERRIFYING. I don’t want to talk about it anymore… But, jewelry snakes? Awesome. This one especially!

And just for good measure, this last ring is an amazing, sparkly Marc by Marc Jacobs gem of a ring:

One of my very favorite cocktail rings is a turquoise and gold Marc by Marc Jacobs ring. I wear it all the time. Their rings are so fun and awesome, and I love LOVE how sparkly this one is. I think it would go perfectly with a cute dress or an arm party (gotta love the arm party, but that’s another post for another day).

So, friends, I think I’m done embarrassing myself on the blogosphere, for now, and since I’ve managed to showed you some of my current favorite rings without doing too much damage to my reputation (I hope…), I think it’s time to say goodbye. But, if you want some more of this jelly (Destiny’s Child, anyone?) feel free to come on over to my blog and say hey or send me some e-mail love if you’d rather – you know, to get my shipping address so you know where to send that ring HA! My e-mail address is rebekaosborne@hotmail.com.  KthxBYE!

MANIC MONDAY: SEQUINED MINI

I adore this sequined Bailey 44 mini skirt. It’s super cute but also super short to I played around with ways to make it day-wear appropriate. I dressed down the sparkle with an army green button-up and paired that with my old school Gap denim jacket. Add an armload (or two) of jewels and we’ll call it a day. Shown above (L-R): Cuff from Red Light, H&M bracelet with baby Disney animals, vintage costume jewelry gifted from Grandma and a couple of rhinestone bangles from Payless (shh, don’t tell). Boots: Aldo. Shirt: LA Made.
